Bimmi: A Short Introduction

Bimbadhar Mishra or ' Bimmi ' the popular pen name as a cartoonist, was born in the province of Orissa in India. He received his education from Sambalpur University, Orissa in Political Science and Economics and choose Banking sector as his profession.

From his school days he was interested in visual arts and has received several prizes in fine arts during his student career. Later, he developed interest in cartooning and rigorously pursued it as a hobby. His cartoons started appearing in all the leading newspapers of Orissa and were very much appreciated by the readers. His deep affair with his avocation landed him in Delhi where he worked as a freelance cartoonist and his cartoons started appearing in National level newspapers like The Hindustan Times, The Hindu Business Line and The Indian Banker (Mumbai) and many other periodicals.

Then he shifted to Bhubaneswar, the temple city and worked for the Daily Pioneer and currently he is stationed in Raipur, the provincial capital of Chhatisgarh State, where he is continuing his artistic pursuit alongside his stressful professional career as a Banker. His cartoons can now be seen in many indian periodicals besides the Central Chronicle, which contains his cartoons as a daily feature.

Bimmi's cartoons are rich in artistic expressions with a deep sense of humour and bear the signature of his understanding of econo-political scenario prevailing in contemporary India. Readers greatly appreciate his artistic and sarcastic view of the burning issues.

"The world can be changed through humour and simple laughter and there is no need of a bloody revolution" is what Bimmi believes in.
